So I've been gone for a while. Most of it had to do with Holiday busyness, but I've also been having a huge writers block about the game for the last month or two. To the point where I actually went onto the forums and put the game on hiatus.
I definitely over-reached with 0.5. Both the most complex code that I've worked on, both in terms of eventing and content. Some of it flowed easily, but with the way I've set up the content, every character needs their own story arc and some of them just won't come. In hindsight I'm working to much on character rather than story, but there's too much content already in 0.5 for me to scrap the general idea of it. I'm not quite sure how I'll finish the remaining arcs. 0.6 and beyond will definitely be different, I'm going to be doing a few deus ex machina moves in order to streamline the content so I can focus more on the story.
But after putting the game on Hiatus, it's actually been easier for me to write. Rather than dealing with the arcs that I'm stuck on, it's allowed me to skip over those steps and write some of the end parts of 0.5. So while I'm still leaving the status of the game on Hiatus, 0.5 will come out sooner or later. I just don't have any idea of when.

Thanks
I do want to take a moment to thank all the people that have helped me make Harem. The game in overall would not be anywhere near as good as it is. Raziel321 was instrumental in getting the CG mode coded and working. Noctun and glorer have been great for maps and effects. Ninjician and NookieNookie have been helping out with sprites. And I have more debuggers and testers than I could mention. One of the things that will be added to 0.5 is a credits option from the main menu that will say everyone that's helped out.
One new member has been extremely helpful. Korrupt has volunteered to look through pretty much every textbox in the game and correct many horrible spelling and grammar mistakes. While English is my first (and only) language, when you write as much as I do everything starts to blur together and many errors slip through. Add to that is the fact I'd enjoy creating content more than proofreading gets me many comments in the threads that start with 'I know English isn't your first language...'. While they cause me to laugh each time, hopefully with his help those should be reduced.
My own work on content creation continues. I'm still working through 0.5. Just about finished with the quest to enter Corsix itself (if you played through 0.4.2 you'd notice that the end sequence changed) and about half-way through the quests inside of it. On the low side it should be another 2-3 hours of content with another 20 scenes added. Possible double the number of scenes if I can think of what to do with a few of the other slaves. 0.5 definitely will not be out this year, hopefully early 2012 for it. Assuming of course the world doesn't end first.
I've highlighted a few other the other fan made H games I enjoy. If you'd like yours listed, send me a mail in either the hongfire or futunari forums.

Motivation!
So the cycle is back on. Haven't had much desire to do much with Harem for the last few weeks, so took a bit of time off. Played some Skyrim and some of the other great fan-made Hentai games out there. Also started another project, but it's not anywhere close to ready for a proof of concept.
As I was pushing 0.4.2 out I wrote another scene for 0.5 and found myself enjoying it again, and have been putting in an hour or two every day writing new content. Still quite a while from even debugging, but progress has resumed enough for me to throw out a few more teasers!

0.4.2 rereleased
0.4.2 released. (again. Thanks to Raziel321 for fixing the bug)
Additions:
CG mode accessible from the main menu (Thanks to Raziel321 and plby2005 over at Hongfire)
One additional scene for Noemi
The CG mode automatically will scan your saves and add in the scenes you've already seen. It will not add in scenes that happened by default when using the chapter select.
I generally won't be answering questions of how to activate individual scenes, I'd rather have the members here help each other find them. I'm doing this both to help me gain some feedback and encourage players to explore a bit more.
Minor scenes (Brothel and tentacle scenes) are not part of the CG mode. Let me know if that's problem and I can do the (considerable) work of adding them into the mode.

CG mode!
Well I missed the weekly updates, but I do have a bit of progress to report. With the help of raziel321 and plby2005 over at hongfire, we're about 90% of the way to having a true CG mode for the game. Something that was completely beyond my ability to do, but their help will definitely make Harem a better game. Also when the script is up and working, I intended to let some of my fellow devs use it as well. But got to get it working fulling before then.
When it's ready, I'll release 0.4.2 which will include that and maybe 2-4 more scenes. I already have two written for Noemi that takes place before 0.5 and I plan on adding additional content to 0.1-0.4 content before releasing 0.5. How much of that is included in 0.4.2 is kind of random and most of the remaining work on it is out of my hands (raz has to finish a bit of coding and then I need to give it to my testers to make sure it works out in the world) and I'll continue writing while that's going on. Nothing that I'm adding will hold up release though, so when the CG mode is done and tested, I'll release.
A few teaser images, the first 3 of the CG mode and then one of the new Noemi scene. She's been fun to write for, an interesting idea of 'Getting her to submit to you for the good of her people' vs 'Just fuck the resistance out of her'. And some brief info for the CG mode - it will be a replay system, so if you haven't seen the scene, it will be greyed out. But it'll work globally so it'll work across saves.
I'm also going to add some other games I like into a side panel, but probably not today.
Next update will be some time in the future!
